Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of MontrealMoving.co (the “Site”). By using the Site or submitting a form you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. What the Site is, and is not

MontrealMoving.co is an information and referral service. We publish guides about moving in Quebec and we forward quote requests to independent moving companies in our partner network. We are not a moving company, a broker or a carrier. We do not perform moves, we do not set the movers’ prices, and we are not a party to any contract between you and a mover. Partner movers pay us a referral fee when we send them a request. That fee is never added to your price.

2. The matching service

The service is free for consumers and creates no obligation to hire anyone.
When you submit a request we send your details to up to three partner movers that serve your area. They contact you directly. We cannot guarantee that a mover will be available for your date or that you will receive a specific number of quotes.
Every partner mover must hold a valid permit from the Commission des transports du Québec and cargo insurance at the time it joins. We check these documents when a mover joins and periodically afterwards, but we are not responsible for a mover’s ongoing compliance, workmanship, pricing, punctuality or conduct.
Any quote, contract, deposit, insurance or claim is strictly between you and the moving company. Read the mover’s written quote and contract carefully. Quebec’s Consumer Protection Act and the Commission des transports du Québec’s rules apply to the mover, not to us.

3. Editorial content

Our guides, price ranges, checklists and calculator are general information for the Montreal market, researched from public sources and from rates quoted by established movers. They are not quotes, legal advice or a guarantee of what any mover will charge. Prices change with the season, especially around July 1. Always confirm with a written quote. If you find an error, write to hello@montrealmoving.co and we will correct it.

4. For moving companies

Companies that apply to the partner network agree to provide accurate licence, insurance and contact information, to use consumer details solely to quote the move described, to never resell or share them, and to the referral terms communicated to them in writing when they are accepted. We may remove a partner at any time, in particular after a substantiated consumer complaint, a lapsed permit or a lapsed insurance policy.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to submit false requests, to scrape or copy the Site’s content for commercial use without permission, to interfere with the Site’s security or forms, or to use the Site for any unlawful purpose.

6. Intellectual property

The Site’s text, guides, tables, illustrations and code belong to MontrealMoving.co or its licensors. You may quote short excerpts with a link to the source page. Journalists and researchers are welcome to cite our pricing data with attribution.

7. Limitation of liability

The Site is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, MontrealMoving.co is not liable for any loss, damage, delay, cost or dispute arising from a move performed by a partner mover, from your reliance on information published on the Site, or from any interruption of the Site. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be waived under the Quebec Consumer Protection Act.

8. Privacy

How we handle your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

9. Language

The Site is offered in French and English. In case of discrepancy between the two versions of these terms, the French version prevails for residents of Quebec.

10. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and the applicable laws of Canada. Any dispute is subject to the courts of the judicial district of Beauharnois, Quebec, unless consumer protection law gives you the right to another forum.
